ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV.com) – Twelve residents of Frontier Health and Rehabilitation in St. Charles have died from complications due to the coronavirus.
Frontier Health and Rehabilitation reports that at least 63 residents have tested positive for COVID-19 as well as 12 employees.
Sunday, St. Louis County announced a woman the nursing home announced that two more residents, a man in his 60s and a woman in her 70s, died from the virus.
Two residents are currently hospitalized due to the coronavirus. And 33 residents have tested negative.
The 12 employees are quarantined in their homes.
Officials said the facility has 107 total residents and 130 total staff members.
A special wing with private rooms is being used exclusively to house any residents who may have been exposed, and those with positive tests are being quarantined on site.
Cases have spread quickly at the facility since the first positive tests were announced March 23.
Staff members from other nursing facilities are helping to fill the gaps caused by the staffing shortage, the nursing home announced.
Frontier said it has an adequate amount of personal protective equipment.
St. Charles County has the fourth highest concentration of cases in the state as of Sunday, with 454 positive tests and 19 deaths.
