WINCHESTER (CBS) — Winchester Hospital discharged their 100th coronavirus patient Wednesday. The staff at the hospital gave him a special send off.
As patient Zachary Whitman was rolled out of the hospital in a wheelchair, the staff lined up in their scrubs and masks to clap as he went by. They cheered, and some had signs to show their excitement.
Whitman works at MIT. His symptoms were mild to begin with, but they then worsened, with him ending up with a 103 degree fever and two hospital visits.
In Beverly, at CareOne at Essex Park, the rehabilitation facility discharged its first coronavirus patient Thursday. Janice O’Brien walked out of the facility to claps and cheers.
Worldwide, more than a million people have recovered from the coronavirus.
